Indefinite Pronouns in Thai (with ก็)
In Thai, indefinite pronouns often appear with ก็ ("also/any") to express flexibility, openness, or lack of restriction. Just like Spanish has algo, alguien, cosa and English has something, someone, anything, Thai has its own set of everyday expressions you’ll hear on the streets of Bangkok.
Common Thai Indefinite Pronouns
- อะไรก็ได้ — anything / whatever
- Example: อยากกินอะไร? (What do you want to eat?)
→ อะไรก็ได้ (Anything is fine.)
- Variation: ได้หมด (I can eat everything.)
- ใครก็ได้ — anyone
- Example: ไม่เป็นไร, ใครก็ได้! (No problem, anyone’s okay.)
- Everyday use: At a massage shop, if your usual worker is busy, you say ใครก็ได้.
- ใครๆ — everyone / anyone
- Example: ใครๆก็ชอบ (Everyone loves it.)
- อะไรสักอย่าง — something
- Example: อยากดื่มอะไร? (What do you want to drink?)
→ อะไรสักอย่าง! (Something, anything!)
- ได้หมด — everything / all
- Example: คุณชอบอาหารอะไรมากที่สุด? (What food do you like most?)
→ กินได้หมด! (I eat everything.)
- Example: คุณชอบผู้ชายแบบไหน? (What kind of man do you like?)
→ ได้หมด ไม่มีสเปค (Anyone, I don’t have a type.)
- มีธุระ — to have something to do / errands
- Example: วันนี้ว่างไหม? (Are you free today?)
→ ไม่ว่าง มีธุระ (Not free, I have something to do.)
- Used when you want privacy without specifying details.
- ที่ไหนก็ได้ — anywhere
- Example: อยากไปเที่ยวที่ไหน? (Where do you want to go?)
→ ที่ไหนก็ได้ (Anywhere is fine.)
- อะไร — what / something
- Often used as อะไรสักอย่าง (something).
- ใครบางคน / บางคน — someone / some people
