They are called "Honest" because they follow the laws perfectly. They are all Unaspirated (No Puff).
While the world debates how to write them in English, we only care about remembering them.
ก : Is it a dry G (Girl) or a K (Kindle)? It’s neither. It’s a "stopped" sound. If you don't puff, you’ve found it.
จ : Is it a J or a CH? English "J" is too heavy; "CH" has too much air. Keep it clipped, sharp, and silent.
ด : The only one no one debates. A solid, honest D. (Twin: ฎ).
ต : T or DT? People argue constantly. Just keep the air behind your teeth
(Twin: ฏ she rarely visits, so don’t stress).
บ : B or P? For me, it’s a B, but with zero puff.
ป : The Fish Letter. My personal struggle! If you want to order fish (Pla), you must be unaspirated.
อ (The Silent One): Not an English "O." It’s from the back of the throat.
The Golden Rules of the Honest Middle Class
Because they waste no energy on "puffs" of air (aspirations) , their tone marks always tell the truth:
No Mark: Mid Tone (Smooth and moderate).
Mai Ek ( ่ ):
Low Tone (Mark points down = Sound stays Low).
Mai Tho ( ้ ):
Falling Tone (Mark looks like a hill = Sound Falls).
