Cheapest Transportation in Bangkok
1. สองแถว (Songthaew)
The absolute cheapest ride in Bangkok! You can travel more than 14 km for just 8–10 baht. These pickup trucks have two rows of benches in the back. Mostly used by locals and students. Fixed routes, often crowded, but unbeatable for price.
2. รถตู้ (Rot Tuu – Van)
Popular with employees and locals. Runs on fixed routes, fast and affordable. Fares range from 25–70 baht depending on distance. Some people use them for short trips and pay less. Great for traveling 30 km or more around Bangkok.
3. วินมอเตอร์ไซค์ (Win Motorcycle Taxi)
Locals call them “วิน.” Perfect for short distances and cutting through traffic. Prices are usually fixed, but you can negotiate for longer rides. Quick, flexible, and everywhere in the city.
4. เรือ (Boat)
Used mainly along Bangkok’s canals. Around 25 baht per trip. Fast and scenic, I used to ride from Bangkapi to Pratunam. The only drawback is the smoke, but the views of the river life are beautiful.
5. รถเมล์ (Bus)
Still one of the cheapest ways to travel long distances — up to 80 km for 10–70 baht. Two types: old buses without air conditioning and modern ones with AC. Foreigners rarely use them since most signs are in Thai, but they remain a very budget-friendly option.
