War diary of Rodney W. Torrey ( Civil War)

A Diary as kept by Rodney W. Torrey, during his service in the Civil War, from October 31, 1862, to August 22, 1863.

With a few minor changes, it is given exactly as it was first written.
The weather observations were made in accordance with a life-long habit of the writer, and are given here because it was his wish to preserve them as a part of the original record.
At the close of the book will be found copies of letters written by him to members of his family. With the omission of a few personal matters, these, too, will be given exactly as written.

Rodney Webster Torrey, born in Windsor, I'erk- shire County, Massachusetts, September 30th, 1836, was a farmer and mechanic residing in Windsor.

The story of his service will be told in his own words.  1862. Rode to Camp Briggs in Pitts field, and volunteered in Company K,  Massachusetts' volunteer Infantry.
